Isolation Transformers – Why They Are Used - Miracle Electronics

Industrial applications require products that follow stringent rules and fulfill rigorous requirements. In such applications, the equipment used should not only functionally effective, but also safe. Highly regulated market sectors like industrial control, energy, and medical rely on the smooth functioning of their electrical devices. Any interruption in the working may cause critical delays and errors; and thus, unwanted outcomes. To help bring the required results in applications where high working voltages, surges, and transient voltages are present, high isolation transformers can help to meet the safety requirements. These transformers are designed to meet the most stringent safety standards.

How Do Stabilizers And Transformers Deliver Safe Power - Miracle Electronics

Every electric and electronic appliance relies ontransformers for their power supply, because transformers are the equipment that can increase or decrease the voltage to the required amount so that appropriate power supply is directed. If inappropriate power supply is directed, the equipment may either not work (if the power supply is insufficient), or it may cause disastrous results and breakdown of the appliance (if the power supply is higher than required). Stabilizers and transformers are thus ideal devices required for transferring appropriate amount of power supply to ensure safe and effective power-based operations.

Where And Why Are Medical isolation Transformers Used - Miracle Electronics

Medical isolationtransformers in India are used to transfer electrical power from a source of alternating current power to an equipment or device, while isolating the powered device from the power source. Thus, medical isolation transformers are one of the safest transformers used with a number of benefits offered tothe application and the operator. They provide galvanic medical isolation and are used to protect against electric shock. These transformers are used to suppress electrical noise in sensitive devices, and to transfer power between two circuits that are not connected. These transformers are used in applications in diversified fields, especially in applications that require the best safety means.

Who Invented Printed Circuit Boards - Miracle Electronics

Printed Circuit Boards, or PCBs in short, can be seen in every electronic device that we use. It could be the smartphones we are holding in our hands all day long, the laptops we use for work, the televisions/radios we entertain ourselves with, the air-condition/heaters we adjust the temperatures with, or anything else – everything uses a PCB. While PCBs are a very common element for every electronic device today, it wasn’t an easy job to invent this amazing component. It took years for the inventors to invent and then develop the PCB to make it such an easy and effective component today. While the entire credit for developing PCBs goes to Paul Eisler, it wasn’t only his efforts that brought us this incredible piece.

What Are Current Sense Transformers?

Current sense transformers are a type of instrument transformer that are used to measure current values in a conductor, mainly used in high-current circuits. In such transformers, the primary has very few windings and is connected in series with the conductor carrying the current that is to be measured. This is why current sense transformers are also known as series transformers. The secondary, on the other hand, has many windings wound around a ferromagnetic core. These transformers are easy to implement, accurate, and reliable under even the harshest environmental and thermal conditions. An ideal current sense transformer has zero winding resistances, infinite inductance, perfect coupling and no parasitics.

How Have Power Transformers Proved To Be A Boon For Today’s Industries?

With the increasing dependability that we all have on electronics and with the massive number of machineries and appliances that work on electricity, the continuous flow of electricity is very much in demand. To bring in safe amounts of electrical energy by converting the massive surge of electric power from the power grid into a usable voltage by devices, transformers play a very crucial role. Every industry today highly depends on these transformers, without which the production processes fail to work.

How Do Transformers Help In Transmitting Electricity To End Users

Have you ever wondered how electricity is brought into our homes and offices? You know that it is superbly huge amount of power generated at the power stations, right? And, you also know that this huge supply if brought into your homes can cause serious damage to your appliances and death too. So then, how does this huge power get into your homes so safely? It is through a power system comprising of various step up and step down transformers. Step up transformers increase the voltage, while step down transformers decrease the voltage.

All That You Must Know About Power Transformers

Power transformers are electrical components used in a variety of residential, commercial, and industrial applications to transfer energy between circuits with the help of electromagnetic induction. These equipment have a primary and secondary winding with varying magnetic fields that induce a varying electromotive force or voltage. Depending upon the application, power transformers can step up or step down the voltage level within the power network.

All You Would Want To Know About Audio Transformers

A transformer is an electrical device that allows an AC input signal to produce an AC output signal without the input and output being physically connected. This device works with two or more coils of insulated wire, called windings, wound around a magnetic metal core. When an AC signal passes through the primary winding, which is the input, a related AC signal appears on the secondary winding, which is the output. This entire procedure is known as inductive coupling.

What Features Of Toroids Provide For An Efficient Operation?

Toroidal transformers are round/doughnut shaped transformers with wires around the core made of ferromagnetic materials like laminated iron, iron powder or ferrite. The core cross-section can be circular, square or rectangular, out of which the circular one is most expensive. Toroidal transformers have complete magnetic field cancellation outside their core, which results in lesser leakage inductance and less EMI when compared to other types of transformers of the same power rating.

What Makes Transformers Explode?

You have seen how a camera shutters while clicking pictures, right? Do you know how long it takes for a standard camera to shutter? Only 8 milliseconds! Another thing you may have noticed is a hummingbird flapping its wings. Do you know how fast it flaps its wings once? 60 milliseconds! Now, you may wonder why this blog is talking about the speed of a camera or hummingbird wing flap. Keep reading, and you’ll understand.

Okay, let’s get back to the point – “What makes transformers explode?” Transformers are the big cylindrical boxes you see attached to electric poles that transfer voltages while transmitting electricity from one circuit to another. Electricity constantly flows through the transformer. But, in a case when it is flooded with too much electricity, the sudden rush of power may cause the transformer to explode. Transformers are programmed to turn off as soon as they detect an energy spike. But, this shutdown can take up to 60 milliseconds. There! You see why this blog spoke about the 8 milliseconds and 60 milliseconds earlier? To explain how fast these milliseconds are. But, in case of a transformer, these 60 milliseconds don't seem to be fast enough! When electricity is flooded into a transformer, this insignificant time turns out to be too slow to stop the electrical overload.
Immediate surge in the electric pole can be caused by many sources like a car hitting the pole or even a squirrel climbing up the pole. Another reason could be lightning. Due to lightning, heavy voltage builds up and the transformer may explode, if there is no security mechanism implemented to avoid it. Furthermore, the reason of an explosion in snow prone areas could be a snowstorm. After a heavy snowstorm, underground electric systems often suffer problems. The salting streets of these areas keep vehicles and pedestrians safe. But, the salt can slip through manholes and corrode wires and create hazardous conditions for the underground electrical systems, thus resulting in transformer explosion.

Within these transformers, there are several gallons of mineral oil to keep the circuits cool. But, when excess amount of electricity is let in, the circuits start melting and fail into a number of sparks, setting the mineral oil ablaze! This results in an explosion of the transformer. However, it isn’t necessary that a failure always results in a fire or explosion but, there is always a possibility. In short, if the input voltage to the transformer is lower or around the critical voltage and the output voltage is more, the load to the transformer increases during peak hours. This results in a heavy increase in the winding temperature and burns out the transformer.

For the best transformers, you can get in touch with Miracle Electronics, the best transformer manufacturer in India for all sorts of transformers like power, toroidal, isolation, UI, SMPS, poly phase, audio and many others.
